On the 6th of January, 2022, the BVS Social Spirit Society planned a donation drive to the National Institute of Child Health. The main idea behind this welfare work was to plant seeds of empathy and gratefulness in the hearts of the privileged so they realize how blessed they really are.
With the joint efforts and synergy of BVS Social Spirit Society and NICH, the programme was made possible. The generous donations given by the BVS family did not only consist of money, but also countless toys, clothes and food items. The donations also included around a 100 blankets that just seemed to be the need of the hour as with Karachi’s temperature touching single digits. The packing of these donations also posed a challenge; however, the high spirits and co-operation of the volunteering students and teachers made it seem like a miracle.
The donation drive was conducted after school and the donations were taken to NICH from BVS. The students were accompanied by one of the NICH faculty members. There, the students visited different wards and communicated with the patients and their families to understand their hardships and complications in life. The Virbaijeeites distributed the donations to the patients in different wards such as the maternity ward, malnutrition ward and the diabetic ward. Some of the students even recognized some of the patients from their visit to NICH earlier as part of the volunteer programme the previous week.
Overall, the donation drive progressed quite systematically and was a great success. “The journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step” and the Social Spirit Society believes that only through constant service to the society can one bring about harmony and prosperity. Lastly, The Social Spirit Society would also like to show their gratitude towards the whole BVS family because this programme would not have been possible without the immense support and efforts of the BVS parents and the management.
