The BVS Hoodbhoy Science Society conducted its 7th annual and 2nd virtual Science Olympiad on the 25th and 26th of February 2022, for students from Grades 9 to 11. 150 participants from different schools registered, including teams from the UAE & Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It was a huge success. The event was conducted using Zoom and the online instant communication application ‘Discord’.
The Olympiad comprised of five intriguing modules which were:
Cyto-Chemikaze (Biochemistry) which tests one’s aptitude of biology and chemistry with an added tinge of forensic science.
Schrodinger’s Web (Physics) which tested their concepts on various branches of physics and compels one to be curious and innovative, by having one understand and explain a groundbreaking theory of physics.
Pythagoras’ Pantheon (Mathematics) which challenges the concepts on abstract mathematics while shining a new light on mathematics simultaneously.
Lawier’s Logike (Logic) which includes mind boggling questions, that require the skill of logical and critical thinking from students. The final round was a race against the clock to decode ciphers and attack the enemy in a rigorous game of battleships.
Sphinx’s Dungeon (Trivia) which require the students to use their general knowledge to get through rounds. With one on one matches in buzzer rounds and Jeopardy, the competition was tough and winning margins were slim.
This Olympiad was given shape under the excellent guidance and supervision of Director Mr. Abdul Samad Jamal and the Patron Mr. Shahid. Not forgetting the bulk of the fruitful efforts, which came from the team managed by talented individuals.
Mujtaba Rashid Hakeem (Event head, Module head of Sphinx’s Dungeon and Assistant module Head of Schrodinger’s Web), M. Haider Ali (Module head of Schrodinger’s Web), Hussain Asif Damani ( Module head of Cyto-Chemikaze), Aman Imtiaz Meherally (Module head of Pythagoras’ Pantheon), Zaid Qureshi (Module head of Lawier’s Logike and assistant module head of Sphinx’s Dungeon), Azfar Hussain (Assistant module head of Cyto-Chemikaze), Hatim Mustafa (Assistant module head of Pythagoras’ Pantheon), Raahim Siddiqui (Assistant module head of Sphinx’s Dungeon)
However all efforts would be incomplete, if it were not for the IT team and Executive team which worked their minds off for the event to make it a success.

Overall, the delegations from Habib Public School performed outstandingly and took both the spots of Winner and Runner-up. The teams from different Institutes performed greatly in all modules as well. Similarly the teams attending as internal teams also performed wonderfully, and in some cases better than their external counterparts. All teams participating responded with praise for the event. Despite all the difficulties and challenges we faced, the event went smoothly. The BVS Hoodbhoy Science Society is honored to have had the opportunity to host such an event where students cultivated great ideas and learned so much.
