Dear Parents & Guardians,
With the blessings of Almighty the second term of the academic year 2023 – 2024 ended gloriously. As we roll into the first term of the new academic session August 2024 to December 2024, the school once again did the very best to complete its set of goals in academics, sports & co-curricular activities along with its 165 years celebrations which will continue throughout the year, Herewith sharing with you the achievements of the second term.
The Aga Khan Education Board for Garden Scrabble Tournament was held on 7th January, 2024. In this tournament Areesh Aftab of 5-A stood 1st in 9-11 years’ age Category. Arsh Farooq of 7-D stood 3rd in the 12-14 years’ age Category. Both received a Shield and a Certificate.
The 1st KPT Inter-School Chess tournament was held on 21st January, 2024. It was for the Middle School and Senior Students. Maadhav Kumar of 7-A stood 4th & Mohit Kumar of 9-C stood 5th.
MUN Society Programs held on 19-21 January 2024. The students of the MUN Society regularly stayed back on Thursdays after School. BVS Munners took part in the Aga Khan Model United Nations Conference (AKESPMUN). BVS received the BEST Delegation Award. Overall, 22 Individual Awards and One Mighty Best Delegation Award.
The SMEC Scrabble and Chess Tournament was held on 22nd January, 2024 at Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology. Shahjahan Ahmed of 7-E Stood 3rd in scrabble. In Chess, Yahya Moin of 8-E stood 7th.
The 24th Gladiators Scrabble Championship 27-28 January, 2024 was held at our BVS Parsi High School. More than 1300 players took part in it in two days. Around 100 players took part from BVS and all did well. Muhammad Hamza of 3-C stood 3rd, Hamza Bin Hammad of 5-B stood 1st , Ali Fahad of 6-E stood 2nd , Zayan Zaman Khan of 7-D stood 1st, Mujtaba Naseem (10-A 2023 Batch) stood 1st Zulfiqar Qureshi (11-E 2023 Batch) stood 3rd in different Categories. Muhammad Bilal Asher of 7-E received a special prize on becoming the World Champion.
Friendship House Chess Tournament was held on 4 February, 2024. Our Virbaijeeites excelled in it. Arsh Farooq of 7-D First, Mohit Kumar of 9-C secured Second and Maadhav Kumar of 7-A Third position in different Categories.
The 5th Scrabble Ranking Tournament was held on 18th February, 2024 organized at BVS Parsi High School. Mubashir Naseem of 8-A stood 3rd in the Recreational, Aehzam Ahmed Siddiqui of 8-E and Muhammad Bilal Asher of 7-E stood 9th and 10th in Master’s Category.
The Inter School Urdu Speech Competition 2024 was held on February 21st 2024. Students from various schools participated enthusiastically Bismah Ansari of Green Shield School took the first position, Sara Adeel of Quaide-e-Azam Rangers School took the second position & Zeerak Rabbani of Sultan Muhammad Shah Agha Khan School took the third position. Among the BVS boys the first prize and the Ibne-Inshaa shield was taken by Muhammad Sarim Zahid of 10-D. The second position was taken by Muhammad Bilal Akmal of 10-A and the third position was taken by Muhammad Abaan Usmani of 9-B.
Secondary English Elocution 2023-2024 was held on February 28th, 2024. Engaging with young minds and nurturing their elocution abilities was an incredibly gratifying experience. These sessions were instrumental in unlocking their potential, allowing them to demonstrate growth and improvement. Tuaha Mazhar 7-C, Daniyal Adnan 8E, Agha Muhammad Murtaza 9-D, Abdar Raffay in group D, Kamran Syed 10-D. Tauha Machar of 7-C stood first, Muhammad Arshmaan of 7-A, Abdul Bau of 7-C, Muhammad Ehzum of 7-E and Muhammad Mustafa Jamil of 7-E stood second and Bilal Zeeshan of 6-E stood third.
In Group E, Danyal Adnan of 8-E & Agha Muhammad Murtaza of 9-D stood first, Syed Wahjee Mohsin Naqvi of 8-D stood second, Muhammad Hassan of 8-B & Muhammad Ali Jalal of 9-D stood third. In Grade F. Abdar Raffay, Kamran Syed of 10-D stood first and took the Nergesh & Munchershaw Vakharia English Elocution Shield. Muhammad Ahmed of 10-D & Muahmmad Sarim Mazhar of 10-D stood second, Muhammad Sarim Zahid of 10-D, Ayyan Hussain of 10-E & Faraz Abbas of 10-B stood third.
The Inter-School Chess Tournament – 28th and 29th February, 2024. It was held at the NJV School. Arsh Farooq of 7-D stood 2nd, Zohaib Jawwad of 7-E stood 3rd & Daniyal Jawwad of 9-E stood 2nd in different categories.
Primary Concert “Alice in Wonderland” held from Friday 1st March till Sunday 3rd March, 2024. The Primary section seamlessly achieved to produce a musical adaptation of Alice in Wonderland at the school Premises. All five hundred and five boys of the Primary Section ranging from ages 06 to 10 years performed their roles flawlessly enthralling the audience; It also goes to the credit of the Primary staff who gave their best in time & talent in training the cast.
BVS Management also appreciates the support & encouragement from the parental fraternity which undoubtedly played a significant role in inspiring the young performers.
The Inter-School Chess Tournament 3rd March, 2024. This was held at Friendship House. Our students won 4 major awards. Zohaib Jawwad of 7-E stood 1st and Abdullah Alam of 6-B stood 3rd, Mohit Kumar of 9-C stood 2nd and Daniyal Jawwad 9-E stood 3rd in different categories.
The 6th Scrabble Ranking Tournament 3rd March, 2024. This was held at the Mama Parsi Girls’ Secondary School. Syed Abdullah of 9-C became the Champion of the Novice Category. Shahjahan Ahmed of 7-E became the Champion of Recreational Category. Muhammad Bilal Asher of 7-E stood 3rd in the Master’s Category.
The Jamshedi Navroze Celebration at BVS was held on Wednesday 20th March, 2024 Keeping the tradition of setting the “Haft-e-seen” table at the Bai Virbaiji Soparivala Parsi High School alive, the Zoroastrian staff and students welcomed “The year of the Blue Whale” by laying a lavish table arrangement of the seven symbolic items whose names start with the letter “seen” of the Persian alphabet. The table also had many other items that celebrate Spring and Ahura Mazda’s gift to us. However, our level of happiness was increased two- fold with the arrival of Mr. Jose Antonio de Ory Ambassador of Spain accompanied by Ms. Spenta Kandawalla and her graceful daughter. Mr. Jose exhibited a keen interest in each of the items displayed on the table especially the Holy Book “Khordeh Avesta”. He also savored the traditional delicacies laid out and took a round of our 165 years old institution.
In a heartwarming initiative at BVS School, a social drive was organized to distribute ration packs to the domestic staff, and have a memorable Iftaar with them on Friday 29th of March, led by dedicated volunteers and supported by generous donations, the drive was directed toward everyone in need.
In a heartwarming demonstration of unity and inclusivity at Ida Rieu, a special Iftaar gathering was organized for the visually and hearing impaired on Tuesday, 2nd April. With a deep appreciation for our shared beliefs and common humanity, the event celebrated the bonds that unite us all.
The 15th BVS Inter-House Chess Tournament 13th April, 2024. The program was held at lichess.org. Muhammad Sarim Hassan Razi 11-D 1st, Daniyal Jawwad 9-E 2nd and Muhammad Aazim Salman 9-E 3rd in the Seniors’ Category. In the Juniors’ Category, Mirza Abdullah Baig 8-D 1st, Shaheer Khan 8-D 2nd and Maadhav Kumar of 7-B 3rd. With 17 Points BVS were also the Winners of the Inter-House Chess Tournament 2024.
The Inter-House Scrabble Tournament held on 16th April, 2024. There were two categories namely Masters and Division B. Muhammad Bilal Asher 7-E 1st, Aehzam Ahmed Siddiqui 8-E 2nd and Syed Maaz Hasan Faridi 8-A 3rd in the Masters’ Category. Ali Fahad 6-E 1st, Syed Abdullah Adil Nasser 6-E 2nd and Mubashir Naseem 8-A 3rd position, Overall, Soparivala House stood 1st with 16 points and were also the BVS Inter-House Scrabble Tournament winners
The 7th Scrabble Ranking Tournament 21st April, 2024. This was held at DACCS School DHA Phase IV. Hamza Bin Hammad 5-B became the Champion of Recreational and Agha Muhammad Murtaza 9-D 2nd in the Novice category.
The Secondary sports was held on February 19, 2024. All the four houses participated enthusiastically in all the events, The Quaid-e-Azam house came first with 303 points. The Rezashah house came 2nd with 297 points. The Lancelot house came 3rd with 263 points & the Soparivala House came 4th with 245 points.
This year the school celebrated its 165 years of excellence on 23rd May, 2024 Faculty and Domestic staff of the four sects of the BVS family held their prayers in different rooms where they prayed for the prosperity of the school. Members of the Managing committee attended the prayers of all the four sects thanking them for their blessings which was followed by a scrumptious lunch. The students celebrated the birthday on May 29th with zeal. They sang songs, made speeches, performed skit and tableau and participated in a quiz and received prizes. At the end of the program children received gifts and sweets. It was indeed an enjoyable morning for all.
