Right now, in the second decade of the 21st Century preparing out students to be good environmental citizens is some of the most important work any of us can do. It is for our children and our children’s children and generations yet to come.
We are pleased to announce the creation of the Thunberg society, a society which is based upon creating awareness on environmental issues. The society is named after Greta Thunberg, a 16-year-old Swedish girl, who is an environmental activist focused on the risks posed by climate change. Students from grades 9-11 are eligible to join this society as volunteers.
Thunberg society of BVS will empower students to participate and take-up meaningful environmental activities. The main aim of this society is to educate students about environmental issues to raise awareness among students and community.
It will empower students to lead the way in creating greener and healthier environment inside and outside the school.
Thunberg society of BVS truly believes what
Professor Wangari Maathai said,
“You cannot protect the environment unless you empower people, you inform them to understand that these resources are their own, that they must protect them.”
