As we roll into the second term of the academic session we pray sincerely that the New Year brings peace and prosperity not only for our beloved country but for each and every human being and the entire world at large. May God Almighty shower his Blessings on all.
BVS celebrated the 71st Independence Day with great joy, pride and zeal with students dressed in their national costumes. As always the four houses performed dances depicting the culture, customs, dresses of the four provinces oozing out the National Spirit, Unity and Pakistan. The positions of the houses are Quaid-e-Azam house at 1st position, Lancelot House at 2nd position, Soparivala House at 3rd position and Rezashah House at 4th position.
Keeping up the tradition of the school entertainment the elders at Parsi Generals Hospital on the occasion of Navroze, our grade 5 boys gifted handmade flowering pots with soil and seeds made from recycled plastic soft drink bottles to the hospital for their green house.
The 1st Signature Pen Scrabble Ranking Tournament was held at the Beach Luxury Hotel on Sunday Aug 19, 2018 organized by Pakistan Scrabble Association, BVS retained its title.
The students of grade 10 A, B & C and 11 D & E visited the Darul-ul-Sukun an institution which looks after the special people. The Virbaijeeites had taken packets of biscuits and juices with them. The idea was that each student would have a packet of biscuit with every special child. This visit taught our students to be thankful for whatever they have in their lives.
A hand washing session was held for the students of grades I, II & III where the students were explained the importance of hand washing and were shown the technique of hand washing. A Session on Healthy Eating Habits was held for the students of grades IV & V where emphasize was given on the importance of a healthy diet.
A dental hygiene session was also held for the students of grades I, II, & III. The pupils were given goody bags containing flavored toothpaste.
As always special tribute was paid to the Armed Forces of Pakistan to Commemorate Defence Day on 6th Sept, 2018.
The Agha Khan Education Board organized World A Thorn Scrabble Championship on the 8th & 9th of September. Where BVS as always maintained its record in prizes.
The Secondary Urdu Elocution was held on Sept 10, 2018 where all the participants performed with zeal, there were 3 categories. The Ibn-e-Insha shield was won by Rabeet Asim of 10 D.
The Primary Urdu Elocution was held on Sept 14, 2018. where all the students expressed significant expression of their feelings. The Naoroji Ratanji Wadia Sheild was awarded to Muhammad Sarim Zaidi of 5 C.
The International Kangaroo Science Contest was held on Sept 27, 2018 in the School Auditorium. 68 students participated in the contest Four students of grade 4 received the bronze medal and USB Data Cable prize and the others received One-star badge & Two Star badge and a special ball point.
Suparco organized the world Space Week on 4th and 10th October 2018. Among the 20 schools BVS took the 3rd position in the physics project named Space Security Systems.
On October 8, 2018 Syed Imaad Ali of 8E, Hamza Muhammad Alam of 9E age 12-14 years qualified for the regional round. He is the 1st runner up for the National Championship but unfortunately he could not participate in the National Championship as he had gone for the Junior World Scrabble Championship at Torquary, England from October 2018, to Nov 02, 2018.
On Oct, 11 2018 the team aging 9-11 years participated in the regional Championship in which Murtaza Munir Farooqui of grade 5B stood as the 2nd runner up for the National Championship. The 14th Dawn Spelling Bee Competition was held on October 15, 2018 at the Arts Council, Rishit of 6D, Rayyan Mutalib of 5A and Murtaza Munir Farooqui of 5B aging 9-11 years qualified for the Regional Championship.
The Annual Primary English Elocution was held on October 19, 2018 in the School Auditorium. For the first time the Primary Section had selected themes for each category. The Naorogi Ratanji Wadia Primary English English Elocution Sheild went to Muhammad Ahmed of Grade 5A and Muhammad Sarim Zahid of grade 5C.
The BVS boys participated in the Declamation Contest in Generation’s School that conducted on Urdu Debate Competition for the students of grade 6. Ahmed Hussain of 6E secured the 3rd position.
“Mein Hero” Art Competition was held on November 07, 2018 at the Karachi School of Business and header ship. Syed Sarim Mochar of grade 5C got the second position in category 1 and Abdul Wahab of grade 8D go the 1st position in category 4.
The Annual Prize Distribution was held on November 11, 2018. Dr. Shahzad Jeeva was the chief guest. He awarded prizes to around 350 students. This year Ms. Diana Randeria Head of the AKU was honoured for her 25 years of service. The cockhouse for the year 2017-2018 was the Rezashah House.
The students of BVS Parsi High School have developed a partnership with Chinmaya Vidyalaya Matriculation Higher Secondary School Vadavalli Coimbatore Tamil Nadu India. This is an online collaboration, group work, leadership, presentation and science skills.
The Annual Primary Sports Day was held on November 16, 2018 at the KPI. Ms. Mahenaz Mahmud, Academic Advisor P.E.C.H.S. Girls School was invited to grace the occasion. The morning began with a colorful P.E Display by the students of grades 3/4/5. The Lancelot House secured the 1st position with 130 points, the Quaid-e-Azam House stood 2nd position with 122 points, the Soparivala House stood 3rd position with 120 points and the Rezashah House came 4th with 88 points.
An Inter-school naat and speech competition was held on Nov 22, 2018 at the Ghulaman-e-Abbas School. Mudassir Ahmed of 9A got the 1st prize in speech competition Muhammad Musab Khan of 8B got the 3rd prize in the Naat Competition.
The City School Inter-School Bilingual Declamation Contest was held at Marriot Hotel on Nov 22, 2018. Wasi Mohsin of grade 11D took the Second Position in the English Debate and Manqad Raza of 9C won the special prize in the Urdu Debate.
BVS got the 1st prize and was awarded the youngest team among all participants in the Tech fest 1st Robo Challenge an inter university, college and school competition of Technical Skills organized at NUST-PNEC on Nov 24th & 25th 2018.
This year the Primary English Project theme was “ALL ABOUT ME” The goal of this project is to make the students be able to write all about themselves.
This year the Primary Social Studies Project’s topic was let’s paint Pakistan Green. Students of grade 4 made a pledge on the project day. Plantation in the school garden was another activity done by grade 5.
The Junior World Scrabble Championship 2018 was held at Torquary, England. Syed Imaad Ali of 8E is the New World Championship of the under 14 Age category. Imaad stood 4th in the whole world, Muzammil Bin Asim of grade 6E is the New World Champions of the under 12 age category. He stood 12th in the world.
Young Misbah-ur-Rehman of grade 5B is the New World Champions of the under 10 age category. He finished at number 19th spot in the world. Team Pakistan has become the Junior World Scrabble Champion for the second consecutive time overall.
Classes 1 & 2 visited the Zoological gardens on Dec 05, 2018 where the children’s learnt a lot about animals and enjoyed themselves.
Classes 3 ABC went to the National Museum on Dec 13 2018 and so did classes 4 ABC on the Dec 14, 2018. It was an informative trip.
After the Terminal exams the students of grades 1 – 8 went to the Capri Cinema to enjoy the movie Palph Breaks the Internet. Everyone enjoyed thoroughly.
Classes 5 ABC went to the Flag House on Dec 17, 2018. It was an informative trip and the children learnt a lot.
The students of grades 8 went on a trip to Debal, Makli, Chaukandhi tombs & Keenjhar lake on Dec 20, 2018. They were given breakfast & lunch. The children enjoyed this trip a lot.
Grades 9, 10 & 11 got an opportunity to learn about the lives of Pakistani Air Force Cadets & Pilots by watching the beautiful movie Parwaz hai Junoon on Dec 20, 2018 at the Capri Cinema.
The students of grades 6 went on a trip to visit Moen-jo-Daro as this place is a part of their syllabus and the history of our civilization. It was a three-day trip which was very informative and enjoyable for the students.
The Senior boys went on a Punjab tour in the winter vacations where the children enjoyed the cold season and the snowfall a lot.
The 5th BVS MUN took 1st place on Dec 21st, 2018 at the School premises which was a 3 days’ conference which was a great success.
The BVS Scouts had Two nights and three days as “Winter Ittehad Badge Training Camp “from 23rd December to 25th December, 2018 in BVS School Ground under the supervision of Mr. Shah Afzal, our Scout Leader.
The first term ended with the announcement of the mid-term result of grades 1/2/3 only. The Primary Section also had a party.
Hoping to meet new challenges in the coming term and facing them with a big smile on our face and a thankfulness to the Almighty.
